Dr. Rodgers is The George A. Dean, M.D; Professor and Chair of Family Medicine at the University of Michigan, where he has practiced and taught family medicine and subspecialty palliative medicine for nearly 25 years. He is founding director of the UM Palliative Care Program, and currently serves as Director of Adult Palliative Care Clinical Services. Dr. Rodgers’ national work focuses on policy, quality and payment, including issues directly impacting community-based palliative care today, and tomorrow. He has long provided volunteer leadership and service to numerous organizations including the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, the American Medical Association, the National Coalition for Hospice and Palliative Care and the Patient Quality of Life Coalition, among many others.
Dr. Rodgers currently co-chairs the NASEM Roundtable on Quality Care for People with Serious Illness and is immediate Past-President the Palliative Care Quality Collaborative (PCQC). His work has been recognized with several awards including the University of Michigan Dean’s Award for Community Service, the Cambia Health Foundation Sojourns Leadership Award, and the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine Gerald Holman Distinguished Service Award.
