Director, Policy and Government Affairs
Hospice and Palliative Care Association of New York State
As the Director of Government Affairs and Policy at HPCANYS, I have successfully led the charge in advocating for transformative policies in advanced illness care at both state and federal levels. Over the past two years, I achieved unprecedented success by drafting and facilitating the passage of five innovative bills through the legislature. This accomplishment underscores my commitment to enhancing health equity and care transformation through effective legislative and regulatory advocacy.
I built the association’s advocacy program from the ground up, employing strategic communications and diverse stakeholder engagement to foster meaningful change. With a proven track record as a registered lobbyist, I expertly manage complex relationships and synthesize data to craft insightful, actionable solutions in a rapidly evolving policy landscape. My work extends to serving as an advisor on national committees focused on legislative, regulatory, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, reflecting my passion for empowering a more inclusive healthcare workforce.
As a first-generation graduate of high school, college, and then law school, I embody perseverance and a commitment to social justice. My advocacy portfolio is anchored in addressing the Social Determinants of Health and supporting marginalized communities. For decades, I have volunteered and worked with programs advocating for individuals with disabilities and survivors of domestic violence, driven to uplift those harmed and underserved by existing systems.
Recognized as an inaugural honoree by Best Lawyers as “One to Watch” in Government Relations and celebrated by City and State New York as one of the state’s most influential government relations professionals, I am dedicated to continuous learning and growth. I was an inaugural recipient of the "Above and Beyond Award" which recognized the most effective individuals across the state in developing and delivering innovative and groundbreaking work in the social services. I serve as a legal consultant to media outlets.
